Woodland Rotary Clubs Seek Community Ideas for Legacy Project
The Rotary Club of Woodland is inviting community members to propose ideas for a Centennial Legacy Project as it prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2026. This initiative, in collaboration with the Woodland Sunrise and Luna Vista Rotary clubs, aims to create a significant, enduring improvement that will benefit the Woodland community for years to come.
According to a recent press release from the club, this project represents more than just a celebration; it is an opportunity to address unmet needs within the community. Aniek Pflager, the club president for the 2025-26 term, emphasized the importance of this milestone, stating, “We want this milestone to mean more than a party. We’re looking for a project that fills an unmet need—something that may not be already planned or fully funded that our community will be proud of in year 100 and year 150.”
Criteria for Project Proposals
The Rotary clubs have outlined specific criteria for the Legacy Project to ensure it has a lasting impact. Proposals should focus on the following key areas:
1. **Community Impact**: The project should provide broad benefits to Woodland residents, with ideas that specifically serve youth and seniors encouraged.
2. **Enduring and Visible**: The initiative should involve a capital or site improvement, installation, or amenity designed to last.
3. **Feasibility by 2026**: Each proposal must demonstrate a clear path to achievement, including necessary permits and partners, as well as a maintenance plan.
4. **Collaborative Nature**: The clubs welcome partnerships, volunteer involvement, and co-funding opportunities to enhance the project’s reach and sustainability.
The initiative aims to foster community engagement and ensure that the Legacy Project reflects the values and needs of Woodland residents.
How to Submit Your Ideas
Residents interested in submitting project proposals can do so via the Centennial Suggestion Form available at woodlandrotary.org. Alternatively, ideas can be sent directly to [email protected]. Submissions should include a brief description of the project, its location, estimated impact, and any potential partners involved.
The deadline for submissions is December 1, 2023, allowing ample time for community input as the Rotary clubs work to develop a legacy that will benefit Woodland for generations. By involving the community in this significant project, the Rotary Club of Woodland aims to create a meaningful legacy that embodies the spirit of service and collaboration that has characterized the organization for nearly a century.
