The beloved musical film Mamma Mia!, featuring Amanda Seyfried and Meryl Streep, is set to premiere on Prime Video on November 15, 2025. Directed by Phyllida Lloyd, the film revolves around Streep’s character, Donna, a single mother preparing for her daughter’s wedding while her daughter, Sophie, played by Seyfried, seeks to discover her biological father.

The original Mamma Mia! debuted on September 12, 2008, and quickly became a worldwide sensation, grossing over $600 million at the box office from a budget of approximately $52 million. The sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, released in July 2018, earned around $395 million but received a more subdued response compared to its predecessor.

The musical’s enduring popularity has sparked discussions about a potential third installment. At the recent Toronto International Film Festival, Seyfried confirmed that plans for a third film are underway. She remarked, “It is, yes. I think. We all said, ‘Yeah, definitely.’ It’s our way of marketing and getting support. Big movies like that are all about studio timing.”

Seyfried also reflected on her decision to participate in Mamma Mia! 2 instead of the film Wicked in 2018. She noted, “I remember they did Mamma Mia! 2 instead of Wicked. They could only do one big movie at that time, so we ended up slotting into that. So, it’s about silly things like that.”

With its catchy ABBA soundtrack and charming performances, Mamma Mia! continues to resonate with audiences, making its upcoming arrival on Prime Video highly anticipated by fans around the world. As viewers prepare for the film’s streaming debut, the prospect of a third installment adds further excitement to the franchise.
