EPISD Interim Superintendent Celebrates Achievements and Announces Job Fair
The El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) is currently reviewing its leadership while Interim Superintendent Martha Aguirre highlights recent accomplishments and initiatives within the district. In a message to the community, Aguirre emphasized the importance of stakeholder feedback in the ongoing search for a new superintendent, stating, “Your feedback is helping the Board of Trustees define the leadership qualities in the next superintendent.” The district is encouraging participation through an online portal available until November 2, 2023.
In addition to administrative updates, Aguirre celebrated the achievements of EPISD students, particularly acknowledging twelve athletes who competed in the UIL Cross Country State Championships held in Round Rock, Texas. “We want to wish luck to the 12 athletes who will represent EPISD at Round Rock this weekend,” Aguirre noted, expressing pride in competitors from schools including Austin, El Paso, Coronado, and Franklin.
Recognizing personal triumphs, Burges High School senior Jesus Jasso received special mention for his resilience in overcoming hearing loss. Jasso is set to represent the United States at the 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo. Aguirre praised his journey as a remarkable example of courage and determination, embodying the spirit of the EPISD community.
Job Fair Announced for Special Education Roles
In an effort to strengthen its Special Education Department, EPISD aims to recruit passionate educators dedicated to supporting students with diverse learning needs. Aguirre announced a job fair scheduled for November 6, 2023, from 15:00 to 18:00 at the Professional Development Center, located at 6500 Boeing Drive. This initiative reflects the district’s commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for all students.
As EPISD navigates the superintendent search, the focus remains on fostering an environment that values student achievements and staff contributions. The ongoing initiatives and events highlight the district’s dedication to creating a supportive and engaging community for both students and educators.
