Plymouth and Swoyersville Prepare for Veterans Day Celebrations
The Rotary Club of Plymouth is set to host the annual Veterans Day parade on **November 8, 2025**, starting at **11:00** a.m. in downtown Plymouth. The parade will commence at Dollar General and culminate with a noon ceremony at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, located near Wyoming Valley High School. Attendees can enjoy food and craft vendors, bounce houses, face painting, and music from DJs at the Plymouth Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Plymouth American Legion.
The following day, the Swoyersville Kiwanis Club will hold a breakfast buffet from **8:30** a.m. to **12:30** p.m. on **November 9** at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School cafeteria on Hughes Street in Swoyersville. The cost is **$10** for adults, **$5** for children aged 5 to 10, and free for veterans. This all-you-can-eat event will feature a basket raffle and a Citizen Dive Watch raffle. Tickets can be purchased at the door or from Kiwanis members. Community Events and Fundraisers
On the same day, the Plymouth Legion Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion (SAL) will host a cash bingo event. Doors will open at **1:00** p.m., with games starting at **2:00** p.m. at the Plymouth American Legion Post Hall. Attendees can participate in 10 games, along with two special rounds and 50/50 drawings. Admission is free, and food and beverages will be available for purchase. Further community engagement will occur with the Pilgrim Congregational Church’s candy sale, with orders due by **November 14**. Pickups will take place on **November 22** from **9:00** a.m. to **2:00** p.m. at the church, located at **172 Center Ave.**, Plymouth. The Knights of Columbus Council 3987 will host a piggie dinner on **November 15** from **5:00** to **7:00** p.m. at St. Ignatius Church, **339 N. Maple Ave.**, Kingston. The meal will include two stuffed cabbage rolls, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, rye bread, dessert, and a beverage for **$16**. Tickets are available at the door or from any Knight of Columbus member, with both dine-in and takeout options.
Upcoming Meetings and Collections
On **November 19**, SAL Squadron 644 of Swoyersville will hold its regular meeting at **6:30** p.m. at the American Legion Post 644 on **259 Shoemaker St.** Membership dues are currently being accepted, and members are encouraged to attend as upcoming events will be discussed. VFW Post 283 will also host a cash bingo event on **November 19**. Doors will open at **5:00** p.m., and games will begin at **6:00** p.m. Attendees can participate in 15 games for **$20**, with payouts ranging from **$100** to **$500** in special rounds. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, but outside food is not allowed.
In addition, the Church of Christ Uniting is organizing a bus trip on **November 19** to the Hunterdon Hills Playhouse for a Christmas show. The cost of **$135** covers the bus ride, show ticket, lunch, and driver’s tip, with the bus departing at **9:00** a.m. Reservations can be made by calling **Kay Smith** at **570-288-0889**.
Community members can support children in need by participating in the Swoyersville Kiwanis Club’s Toys for Tots collection. Donations of new, unwrapped toys can be dropped off by **November 26** at Rainbow Jewelers or by **December 8** at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church Hall and the Swoyersville Borough Building lobby. Community members are also invited to a dinner meeting with U.S. Marines on **December 10**.
The Edwardsville Hometown Committee will host a Christmas lighting event on **November 28** at **6:00** p.m. in downtown Edwardsville, featuring Santa Claus and complimentary hot chocolate and cookies for attendees.
Finally, the SAL Squadron 644 will conduct a membership renewal drive on **November 30** from **1:00** to **5:00** p.m. at the Swoyersville American Legion Post 644. Members can renew their dues and receive a 2026 membership card, with an early bird special drawing for a free membership if dues are paid prior to **December 1**.
For those interested in local culture, the Kingston Historical Society is hosting its annual holiday dinner on **December 11** at **6:00** p.m. at Theo’s Metro on Schuyler Avenue. Local food pantries, including one at the Forty Fort United Methodist Church, distribute food on the second Wednesday of each month from **10:00** a.m. to **noon**. This service is available to anyone in need, with donations from the CEO/Weinberg food bank and the church community ensuring continued support.
