Barry Stauffer Ehret, Beloved Father and Retired Supervisor, Dies at 80

BREAKING: Barry Stauffer Ehret, a cherished father and retired supervisor, has passed away at the age of 80. He died on November 8, 2025, at Roper Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina, leaving behind a legacy of love and community.

Born on September 8, 1945, in Whitehall, Pennsylvania, Barry was the son of the late Luther and Pauline R. Ehret. In 1987, he relocated to South Carolina, where he dedicated his career as a Region Supervisor at Mac Trucks in Winnsboro until his retirement in 1997. Known for his passion for fishing and the beach, Barry was a regular supporter of his son Brian’s racing career and cherished moments spent with family and friends.

Barry is survived by his son, Brian Ehret, of Charleston, South Carolina, and his brother and sister-in-law, Woody and Betsy Ehret, of Parkersburg, West Virginia. His family also includes granddaughters Taylor Michelle of Greenville, South Carolina, and Blakely Ann of Savannah, Georgia, along with nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Sandra “Sandy” Ann Ehret, whose memory will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew them.

A celebration of Barry’s life is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on November 18, 2025, at Dunbar Funeral Home Northeast Chapel, located at 4219 Hard Scrabble Road, Columbia, SC 29223. Following the service, a private reception for family will take place.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the South Carolina Alzheimer’s Association, an organization dedicated to supporting families affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
