Boston Faces Blustery Winds Up to 40 mph and Chilly Temps Today
URGENT UPDATE: Boston is experiencing severe weather today as the National Weather Service warns residents of blustery winds reaching up to 40 mph. The high temperature is expected to hover around 53 degrees, but strong gusts combined with chilly conditions are creating hazardous situations across the city.
As of this morning, Boston is dealing with strong winds and slippery conditions due to rain and light sleet, especially on wet leaves. The weather is causing concern for commuters and outdoor activities, with reports indicating that gusts could peak at 38 mph throughout the day. Boston 25 News has confirmed that a brief rain shower or light snow may occur, but the impacts are anticipated to be minimal.
Looking ahead, Boston residents can expect mostly sunny skies in the coming days, but cold mornings below freezing will persist. The remainder of the week promises calmer weather with daytime highs in the 40s. Monday’s forecast indicates mostly sunny conditions, although wind will remain a factor.
Winds are forecasted to decrease on Tuesday and Wednesday, with evening temperatures dropping into the low 30s. Daytime highs midweek are projected to reach around 46 degrees, according to the NWS.
However, a new weather system is on the horizon, bringing a potential for rain from Friday into Saturday. There is currently a 60% chance of rain on Friday, decreasing to 50% by Friday evening. Saturday could see some showers along with partly sunny skies, presenting a stark contrast to the dry and windy conditions earlier in the week.
Residents are urged to stay updated on weather alerts and prepare for the rapidly changing conditions. The strong winds and cold temperatures could pose risks to outdoor activities, making safety a priority. Stay tuned for further updates as this weather system develops.
