Thailand Rings in 2026 with Nationwide Countdown Celebrations
Thailand is set to welcome 2026 with a vibrant programme of countdown celebrations across the nation. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is spearheading two flagship events in Phayao and Su-ngai Kolok, complemented by various festivities in Bangkok and other key destinations. These celebrations aim to highlight Thailand’s diverse cultural heritage and tourism appeal as the country transitions into the new year.
Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of TAT, emphasized the importance of showcasing regional identities through high-quality celebrations. She stated, “These events represent a strategic focus on regional identity while creating a nationwide countdown atmosphere that invites visitors to experience Thailand’s diversity at the turn of the year.”
Flagship Events in Northern and Southern Thailand
In northern Thailand, the Amazing Thailand Phayao Countdown Flora Fest 2026 will run from December 28 to 31, 2025, at the Pho Khun Ngam Mueang Monument Plaza and surrounding areas of Kwan Phayao. This event honors Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, and aims to establish Phayao as an emerging global destination. The four-day festival will feature impressive lighting displays, floral art exhibitions, and captivating drone performances from December 29 to 31. The celebration will culminate in a grand New Year’s Eve fireworks display and a ceremonial countdown attended by notable VIPs.
Meanwhile, the Amazing Thailand Su-ngai Kolok Countdown 2026 will take place at Sirindhorn Public Park in Narathiwat from December 28 to 31. This event highlights the cultural richness of the border region with decorative lighting, live concerts featuring national artists, and traditional performances. Each night will showcase a blend of cultural displays and contemporary music, culminating in a countdown and fireworks just before midnight. The event will also host senior representatives from Thailand and neighboring Malaysia, reinforcing Su-ngai Kolok’s role as a cultural and tourism gateway.
Exciting Celebrations in Bangkok and Beyond
Beyond the flagship events, TAT is supporting a multitude of countdown celebrations across the country. In Bangkok, the Amazing Thailand Countdown 2026 at ICONSIAM will take place from December 27 to 31, featuring spectacular sky performances that combine environmentally friendly fireworks and drone displays over the Chao Phraya River. The event will also include performances by global and Thai artists, including a special appearance by Mark Tuan.
The One Bangkok Countdown Celebration 2026 on December 31 will unveil a new urban landmark with live performances from internationally acclaimed Korean artists, alongside immersive light-and-sound shows. The CentralwOrld Bangkok Countdown 2026 will maintain its status as the “Times Square of Asia” with headline concerts and a landmark fireworks display.
Additionally, the NEON Countdown 2026 at Rajamangala National Stadium on December 30 and 31 will offer an electrifying EDM experience featuring top DJs, turning the stadium into a lively New Year party venue. The Extravaganza Sukhumvit Countdown 2026 on December 31 will showcase synchronized fireworks across over five kilometers of Sukhumvit Road, creating a unified countdown experience across retail, hospitality, and entertainment districts.
Regional destinations are also preparing unique celebrations to enhance tourism. The Hat Yai New Year 2026 will occur at Thumnoonvithi Road in Songkhla from December 30 to 31, featuring live music and cultural performances. Hua Hin Countdown 2026 at the InterContinental Hua Hin Resort on December 31 will provide a beachfront celebration with DJs and fireworks, while the Udon Countdown 2026 in Udon Thani will feature entertainment and a midnight fireworks countdown on the same day.

In preparation for the celebrations, the Royal Thai Police are implementing extensive safety measures to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for all attendees. This includes deploying personnel, vehicles, and modern security technologies, while the Tourist Police will assist travelers and manage crowd movements at major celebration sites.
