BREAKING: Federal and state health officials have just announced a critical recall of baby formula linked to 13 cases of infant botulism across 10 states. ByHeart Inc. is recalling two specific lots of its Whole Nutrition Infant Formula, as confirmed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The recalled formula, identified by lot numbers 206VABP/251261P2 and 206VABP/251131P2, has been associated with hospitalization of all affected infants after consuming the product. The states impacted include Arizona, California, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, and Washington. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported.

The FDA is currently investigating the source of contamination and whether other products may also be affected. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), this formula accounts for approximately 1% of national formula sales, making the situation even more urgent for parents and caregivers.

Parents are strongly advised to check for the recalled lot numbers. If you have purchased this formula, please record the lot number before discarding or returning it. Clean any surfaces or items that came into contact with the formula using a dishwasher or hot, soapy water.

Seek immediate medical attention if your infant shows signs of distress after consuming the recalled formula, including poor feeding, loss of head control, difficulty swallowing, or decreased facial expression. The CDC warns that symptoms of infant botulism can take weeks to manifest, urging parents to be vigilant.

A spokesperson from ByHeart has not yet responded to requests for comment. As this situation develops, stay tuned for further updates on the investigation and any new findings regarding the safety of baby formula products.

This urgent recall highlights the importance of monitoring food safety for our youngest and most vulnerable. Share this information widely to help protect families across the country.
