According to the Oakland Police Department, the driver was behind the wheel of a Toyota Corolla carrying five teenagers when it collided with another vehicle near 14th Avenue and East 31st Street. After the initial collision, the suspect fled the scene and merged onto Interstate 580, pursued by the driver of the other vehicle, who alerted authorities with critical details.

The situation escalated when the Corolla exited the freeway at 35th Avenue and continued southbound at a high rate of speed. Tragically, in the 3300 block of 35th Avenue, the Corolla was struck by a third vehicle, causing it to crash into a concrete wall.

Emergency services transported all occupants of the Corolla to nearby hospitals. The 15-year-old girl, who was seated in the rear passenger seat, succumbed to her injuries less than an hour later. The conditions of the other three girls involved remain unclear as of Sunday morning.
