Michigan Directs Three Online Casinos to Cease Operations NOW
URGENT UPDATE: The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has ordered three online casinos—Cryptowins Casino, Slotland Casino, and Winaday Casino—to immediately halt all operations in the state. This decisive action comes as part of a crackdown on illegal gaming, confirming that these sites are operating without the necessary licenses.
The MGCB issued cease and desist letters earlier today, clearly stating that these casinos are not authorized to offer online gaming or sports betting in Michigan. This follows a recent wave of warnings sent to eight other gaming websites, highlighting ongoing concerns about unregulated gambling targeting Michigan residents.
“Our mission is clear: protect players,” said Henry Williams, Executive Director of the MGCB. “When unlicensed operators target Michigan residents, they’re not just breaking the law—they’re putting players at risk. Illegal gaming sites lack oversight, consumer protections, and the assurance that winnings will be paid out.”
The letters mandate that these casinos stop accepting bets from Michigan residents immediately and block access to their websites. This move underscores the state’s commitment to maintaining a safe and fair gaming environment since the launch of legal online gaming in January 2021.
The MGCB has been vigilant in its monitoring efforts, with the latest crackdown reflecting a broader strategy to limit illegal gambling operations. In June, the agency sent out 100 cease and desist letters targeting unlicensed operators, and just last month, four other illegal online casinos were shut down.
As fake casino advertisements proliferate across social media and the internet, the MGCB urges players to “play it smart” and only engage with licensed operators. This warning comes as illegal sites attempt to lure players with enticing offers, further emphasizing the risks involved.
“Michigan has a robust regulatory system in place to ensure fairness and security for all players,” Williams added. “When unregulated casinos try to circumvent these regulations, it undermines the integrity of our gaming market.”
As this situation develops, Michigan residents are encouraged to stay informed and cautious about where they place their bets. The MGCB remains committed to upholding the law and protecting consumers from the dangers of unlicensed gambling activities.
