Drew McIntyre Expected to Stay with WWE Until WrestleMania 2028
Drew McIntyre, one of WWE’s top stars, is expected to remain with the Stamford-based promotion until at least WrestleMania 2028. Following a report from Fightful Select, it has been confirmed that McIntyre’s current contract will keep him with WWE for several more years. This comes after the former World Champion re-signed with the company last year, solidifying his status as a main-event competitor.
Recently, former WWE writer Vince Russo extended an invitation to McIntyre to consider working with Juggalo Championship Wrestling (JCW) when his contract expires. While this opportunity has been mentioned, it seems unlikely that McIntyre will make that move anytime soon. The Scottish Warrior has previously expressed interest in working with JCW during his indie days, but those aspirations have not materialized.
On the November 1, 2023, episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event, McIntyre faced off against Cody Rhodes for the World Championship, ultimately falling short in his bid for the title. Despite this setback, McIntyre remains focused on his future with the company and his ambitions for the wrestling industry.
McIntyre’s Vision for WrestleMania in Scotland
In a recent interview with SportBible, McIntyre shared his dream of hosting a future WrestleMania in his home country of Scotland. He has been vocal about this desire since 2019, envisioning a grand celebration that includes a title win and a parade across the UK.
“I think I started talking about it in 2019, going into the Royal Rumble in 2020 when I won,” McIntyre recounted. “I’m going to win the Rumble, win the title, get an open-top bus, parade it around the UK as the only ever British champion.” His aspirations include not only winning the title but also bringing it home for a celebratory parade, which he believes could take place at Murrayfield Stadium.
McIntyre sees the potential for a significant draw, stating that fans would travel from across the UK and beyond to attend. He expressed his excitement about the idea of conducting media engagements at iconic locations such as Edinburgh Castle and attending local football matches, including games of Rangers FC. “I cannot wait to do media on top of Edinburgh Castle or something,” he said.
As McIntyre looks toward the future, his commitment to WWE and his ambitions for Scottish wrestling remain strong. With his contract extending through WrestleMania 2028, fans can expect to see more from The Scottish Warrior in the years to come.
