Chevy Announces Expansion of US-Made Vehicle Lineup for 2027
URGENT UPDATE: Chevrolet has just announced a significant expansion of its US-made vehicle lineup for the 2027 model year, including the highly anticipated Chevrolet Bolt EV and a new gas-powered Blazer. This move is set to boost job creation and maintain the brand’s strong presence in the American automotive market.
The Chevrolet Silverado continues to dominate sales, trailing only the Ford F-Series, with all models—including the light-duty 1500, heavy-duty 2500/3500, and the Silverado EV—proudly made in the U.S. However, some Silverados are also produced in Canada and Mexico. Consumers are advised to check their vehicle’s window sticker for precise manufacturing locations.
The full-size Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban SUVs are also manufactured in the United States at the Arlington Assembly plant in Texas. Both vehicles share a platform and boast spacious interiors, making them popular among families. The Tahoe starts at $62,095, while the Suburban begins at $65,095.
Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Traverse, known for its crossover appeal, is built in Lansing, Michigan. This model offers a smoother ride but sacrifices towing capacity compared to its larger counterparts. The Traverse is significantly more affordable, starting at over $20,000 less than the Tahoe.
Chevrolet’s iconic Corvette remains a staple of American manufacturing, built in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This facility has become a destination for Corvette enthusiasts, offering factory tours and a unique build experience for buyers of high-performance models like the Z06.
Additionally, the Chevrolet Colorado midsize truck and Express commercial van are produced at the Wentzville Assembly Center in Missouri. The Colorado has garnered accolades, including the Motor Trend Truck of the Year award for multiple years.
In a strategic pivot, the Chevrolet Bolt, aiming to be the most affordable electric vehicle on the market, will now be produced at a new GM plant in Kansas City, replacing the previous Michigan facility. This model is crucial for revitalizing interest in electric vehicles, especially as EV sales have seen a significant decline of 41.2% year-over-year.
What’s Next: With these developments, Chevrolet’s commitment to American manufacturing is clearer than ever. As the automotive industry navigates changes and challenges, the introduction of new models and production capabilities will be closely watched by consumers and industry experts alike.
Stay tuned for further updates on Chevrolet’s expanding lineup and what it means for American jobs and the automotive landscape.
