Hosts of Chesterton Party Arrested After Violent Altercation
UPDATE: A violent altercation during a party in Chesterton has resulted in two arrests and multiple felony charges. Keshawn Lamar Stephens, 27, and Tiffany Amber Wilfong, 30, are now facing serious legal consequences following the incident that unfolded late on December 20.
Witnesses reported that an evening of celebration quickly escalated into chaos, leading to both hosts being taken to the Porter County Jail. Authorities were alerted after a 911 hang-up call was made from their residence on the 900 block of S. 19th Street. Initial police interactions suggested no need for intervention, but the situation rapidly deteriorated.
According to police reports, Wilfong initially told officers she had not called for help. However, shortly after, she contacted them again, revealing that Stephens had physically assaulted her, leading her to defend herself with a pair of scissors. A sheriff’s statement details that Stephens had bear-hugged Wilfong when she asked him to leave, prompting her to react in self-defense.
After fleeing the scene, Stephens was later found hiding in a bathtub, where officers discovered a “trail of blood” leading to him. Chesterton Police Cpl. Darren Conley reported administering a tourniquet to Stephens before he was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Both individuals were charged with domestic battery, with additional charges for Stephens due to a prior court order against contact with Wilfong.
This incident raises pressing concerns about domestic violence, particularly with a minor present at the party. Wilfong has since posted a bond of $1,500, while Stephens remains in custody, facing serious charges that could have lasting repercussions on their lives.
As this story develops, authorities are expected to provide further updates on the legal proceedings against both individuals. Community members and advocates are encouraged to engage in discussions about the importance of addressing domestic violence and ensuring safety for all involved.
Stay tuned for more urgent updates on this developing situation.
