Texas Basketball Signs Two Recruits, Awaits Star Austin Goosby Decision
UPDATE: Texas basketball has made significant moves in its 2026 recruiting class, adding two promising players just days apart. Head coach Sean Miller announced the signing of Bo Ogden from Westlake High School in Austin on Wednesday, followed by the addition of Joe Sterling from Los Angeles on Thursday.
The excitement continues as Miller’s team eagerly awaits a crucial decision from five-star recruit Austin Goosby. Originally set to announce his choice on Friday, the 6-foot-5 senior from Melissa High School, located north of Dallas, has now postponed his commitment until Monday. Goosby is weighing offers from Texas, BYU, Baylor, and Duke. If he chooses Texas, he will join his older brother, Trevor Goosby, who is currently the starting left tackle for the Texas football team.
Ogden, a 6-foot-6 small forward, transferred from St. Michael’s to Westlake for his senior season. The son of Texas basketball general manager Chris Ogden, a former Longhorn himself, Bo is ranked as the No. 34 overall prospect in the nation by Rivals. He gained notoriety last season for hitting a buzzer-beater to clinch a 50-48 victory in the TAPPS Class 6A boys state championship game against Dallas Parish Episcopal.
Sterling, standing at 6-foot-4 and ranked as the No. 12 combo guard nationally, has emerged as one of the top long-range shooters in youth basketball. He achieved an impressive 44% success rate on his 3-point attempts during his latest club season, according to 247Sports.
However, all eyes are on Goosby, the No. 19 overall prospect in the 2026 class as per 247Sports. He has been widely recognized as one of the top two-way wings in the country, making his potential commitment a game-changer for Texas basketball.
As Miller and his staff prepare for what could be a pivotal moment for the program, fans are on edge, awaiting Goosby’s final decision. Will he choose to join his brother at Texas and bolster an already promising recruiting class? Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
