Travis Pastrana Unveils 670-HP Subaru Brataroo for Gymkhana
BREAKING: In a thrilling announcement, Travis Pastrana has unveiled his latest Gymkhana vehicle: the 670-HP Subaru Brataroo 9500 Turbo. This stunning 1978 Subaru BRAT, developed in collaboration with Subaru and Vermont SportsCar, is set to redefine stunt driving with its exhilarating capabilities.
The Brataroo is equipped with a fire-breathing 2.0-liter turbocharged boxer four-cylinder engine that generates an impressive 670 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque, capable of revving to a staggering 9,500 RPM. This vehicle promises to deliver adrenaline-pumping action in Pastrana’s upcoming Gymkhana video, titled “Aussie Shred,” which will premiere in early December 2023 on the Hoonigan YouTube channel.
Hoonigan has built anticipation around this release, teasing fans with glimpses of what to expect in Australia, the birthplace of the term “hoon.” Pastrana stated,
“This BRAT’s unhinged – in the best way possible. It’s got the soul of a vintage Subaru with the tech to do things no Gymkhana car has ever done.”
The Brataroo is designed to handle extreme stunts, ensuring it can take abuse and soar through the air, showcasing its advanced engineering.
This Gymkhana car boasts cutting-edge features, including a six-speed sequential SADEV gearbox that distributes power to all four wheels. Its exterior is crafted from lightweight carbon fiber and is outfitted with the most sophisticated active aerodynamics seen in any Gymkhana vehicle to date. The front fender louvers are fully adjustable, allowing for optimal road grip or airborne stunts, depending on the situation.
In addition, the Brataroo comes with two interchangeable rear wing designs: one for enhanced downforce during high-speed maneuvers and a smaller variant for more casual tire-roasting activities.
The design of the Brataroo has been masterfully executed by Khyzyl Saleem, known as The Kyza, featuring a retro aesthetic complete with a ’70s-inspired graphic package and fun kangaroo illustrations. Inside, the vintage charm continues with a restored OEM radio and a period-correct CB radio, all wrapped in a plaid Dixxon Flannel interior.
With the excitement building and the stakes higher than ever, the Subaru Brataroo promises to deliver an unforgettable experience in the upcoming “Aussie Shred” video. Fans and car enthusiasts alike are eagerly awaiting this showcase of skill and engineering excellence, ready to witness Pastrana push the limits of performance and creativity.
