URGENT UPDATE: A major power outage has struck western Cumberland County, affecting over 13,690 customers, according to Lumbee River Electric Membership Corporation. The outage began just after 2 p.m. today, with a damaged main cable at the point of delivery being identified as the cause.

Residents in the impacted area, situated between the intersection of King Road and Cleo Place, and the intersection of King Street and Brushy Hill Road, are among those facing disruptions. As of now, this outage represents a staggering 64.1% of the total customers served in Cumberland County.
