New Horror Comedy ‘Making a Bridesmaid’ Wraps Production, Cast Revealed
UPDATE: Filmmaker Molly Ratermann has just announced that her directorial debut, “Making a Bridesmaid,” has officially wrapped post-production and is gearing up for a festival run in 2026. This exciting twist on the comedy-horror genre is set against a backdrop of fierce competition and dark humor, promising audiences a unique cinematic experience.
The film, described as a blend of “Bodies Bodies Bodies” and “Bridesmaids,” explores the pressure women face in a society rife with competition. Set during a stylized sleepover-from-hell in Lake Tahoe, California, it follows two outcast sisters, portrayed by Emily Kincaid and Ratermann herself, as they navigate a deadly bachelorette weekend that quickly spirals into a real-life murder game.
This engaging narrative not only serves as a thrilling ride but also as a sharp satire on societal expectations. Ratermann stated,
“’Making A Bridesmaid’ is a wild, fun ride that digs into fakeness, identity, and rivalry, even as women keep reaching for solidarity.”
The film features a powerhouse ensemble cast including Serra Naiman, Wilder Yari, Alex Sgambati, Gina Su, Maya Butler, April Kelley, and Cynthia Aileen Strahan. Notably, Sabrina Plisco, President of the American Cinema Editors, makes her debut as a producer and editor for this project, alongside cinematographer David Newbert.
The production team is bolstered by experienced executive producers including Finn Bruce, Michael D. Whitfield, Sonny Marler, Keith Rosmarin, and Darren Cogan.
Ratermann aims for the film to resonate not only with women but also to spark curiosity among men regarding the complexities of female socialization.
“I hope it sparks curiosity in men about the layers of female socialization, while giving women a chance to laugh—and maybe squirm a little—in recognition of their own experiences,”
she added.
With the film now picture-locked, details regarding premiere plans and sales representation are expected to be announced soon. Fans of horror and comedy alike will want to keep an eye on this project as it makes waves in the festival circuit.
Stay tuned for further updates on “Making a Bridesmaid,” as it gears up to become a must-watch in the coming years.
