Community Mourns Passing of Mildred Danko at 89

Mildred Dolores Louise Danko, aged 89, passed away on November 12, 2025, in a touching farewell that has resonated with her community. Formerly of Republic, Mildred was a beloved figure known for her dedication to family, community service, and her professional life.

Born to the late George and Suzanne Sheba Danko, Mildred’s family legacy is one of resilience and love. She was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister, as well as her brother, George Albert “Junior” Danko, and great-nephew, Ryan Danko. Her memory will continue to live on through her sister-in-law, Eloise Danko of Ravenswood, West Virginia, along with a host of cherished nephews and nieces, including Roy David, Edward Michael, John Thomas, Tonda, Albert Stanley, Crystal, Georgianne, and Robert Long.

Mildred’s educational journey culminated in her graduation from Redstone High School in 1954. She dedicated 40 years of her career to the Penn State Cooperative Extension, where she served as secretary and office manager until her retirement in 1996. Her professional contributions were matched by her active involvement in her community.

Community Contributions and Legacy

A long-standing member of Holy Rosary Church in Republic, Mildred’s contributions extended beyond her family. She served on the Pastoral Council, participated in the Cemetery Committee, and acted as a Eucharistic Minister. Notably, she was the first female elected to the Board of Directors of the Fayette County Agricultural Improvement Association, where she also held the position of treasurer, demonstrating her commitment to local agriculture and community events.

Mildred’s skills were not limited to administrative roles; she was also a licensed cosmetologist and an active member of the Ladies Club of Tower Hill #2. Her diverse talents and unwavering spirit enriched the lives of many in her community.

The family expressed deep gratitude to the staff, nurses, and aides of Monarch Meadow and OSPTA for their compassionate care during her later years. Their support has been invaluable to the family during this difficult time.

Private funeral arrangements are being handled by the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME in Brownsville. Burial will take place at the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Republic, where Mildred will be laid to rest among the community she cherished.

Mildred Danko’s legacy of service, kindness, and commitment to family will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. As the community gathers to honor her memory, her spirit remains an enduring presence in the lives she touched.
