Jets Trade All-Pro Sauce Gardner to Colts for Future Picks
The New York Jets have executed a significant trade ahead of the NFL trade deadline, sending All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts. In return, the Jets will receive two first-round picks and wide receiver AD Mitchell, according to multiple reports confirmed on November 4, 2025.
Gardner, who was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, had recently signed a four-year extension worth $120.4 million with the Jets. He quickly established himself as a key player, earning Pro Bowl selections in both 2022 and 2023, along with First-team All-Pro honors in those seasons. His departure marks a significant shift for the Jets, who currently hold a record of 1-7 after their bye week.
In a brief message shared on social media, Gardner expressed his sentiments towards the Jets, stating, “New York it’s been real.” This post, made on the platform X, reflects the emotional impact of this transition for the young star.
Implications for the Jets and Colts
For the Jets, this trade opens up additional salary cap space and provides two valuable first-round picks as they look to rebuild for the 2026 season. With Gardner’s exit, the team is poised to reassess its strategy and focus on future development.
Conversely, the Colts are in a strong position following this acquisition. Currently sitting at 7-2 and coming off a disappointing loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 9, the Colts have emerged as one of the most surprising teams in the NFL this season. Under head coach Shane Steichen, quarterback Daniel Jones has revitalized his career, while running back Jonathan Taylor has been a dominant force in their ground game.
By adding Gardner to their roster, the Colts have bolstered their defense and solidified their status as serious contenders for the championship. The combination of Gardner’s talent and the team’s current momentum makes them a formidable opponent as the season progresses.
This bold move underscores the shifting dynamics within the league and highlights the strategic decisions teams are making as they approach the final stretch of the season. With the trade deadline now behind them, both the Jets and Colts will be closely monitored as they navigate their respective paths forward.
