Three Ohio State Stars Projected Top 10 in 2026 NFL Mock Draft
The latest NFL mock draft for 2026 highlights the Ohio State Buckeyes as a powerhouse in player development, with three of their standout athletes projected to be selected within the top 10. According to ESPN NFL Draft insider Todd McShay, EDGE rusher Arvell Reese is anticipated to be picked second overall by the New York Jets, while wide receiver Carnell Tate is expected to go fifth to the New York Giants. Safety Caleb Downs is projected to be drafted seventh by the Washington Commanders.
Ohio State’s strong reputation for producing elite NFL talent has been bolstered under the leadership of head coach Ryan Day. Since 2020, Day has coached 14 players to first-round selections, including notable names such as Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, C.J. Stroud, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Emeka Egbuka. The 2025 NFL Draft was particularly successful for the Buckeyes, with four players being selected in the first round: Egbuka (No. 19), Donovan Jackson (No. 24), Tyleik Williams (No. 28), and Josh Simmons (No. 32).
Arvell Reese: A Rising Star
Reese’s impressive performance as both a linebacker and edge rusher has caught the attention of NFL scouts. McShay describes him as being similar in build to NFL stars Micah Parsons and Abdul Carter, noting his elite speed and powerful hands. At 6-foot-4 and 243 pounds, Reese recorded 6.5 sacks during the past season, showcasing his potential for success at the professional level.
While these numbers may not seem extraordinary, Reese possesses the critical intangibles desired by NFL teams. His ability to adapt and excel in different roles is highlighted in McShay’s analysis: “Reese has high potential once he settles in as a full-time edge-rusher,” he stated. This adaptability, combined with his physical attributes, positions him as a highly sought-after prospect in the upcoming draft.
In addition to the three players projected in the top 10, linebacker Sonny Styles is also predicted to be a first-round pick, potentially going 12th overall to the Dallas Cowboys. This continued success in drafts underscores Ohio State’s reputation as a breeding ground for talent, further solidifying their status in college football and the NFL.
As the 2026 NFL Draft approaches, excitement builds around the potential impact these players could have in the league. With Ohio State’s strong track record, their latest prospects are expected to make significant contributions to their future teams. The combination of talent, coaching, and development at Ohio State continues to set the stage for future successes, both for the players and the program as a whole.
