Blue Jays Rookie Yesavage to Start World Series Game 1 vs. Dodgers
BREAKING: Blue Jays rookie Trey Yesavage has been confirmed as the starting pitcher for Game 1 of the World Series against the reigning champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers, on Friday, September 15, 2025. This marks a historic moment, as Yesavage will be the first rookie to start Game 1 of the World Series since 2006.
In an urgent announcement made just hours ago, Blue Jays manager John Schneider revealed that the young pitcher, who made his major league debut only a month ago, will take the mound against veteran Blake Snell of the Dodgers. Yesavage, at just 22 years old, has now secured more postseason starts—four—than regular-season outings—three—demonstrating his rapid rise through the ranks.
Yesavage’s impressive postseason journey includes a standout performance against the New York Yankees in the Division Series, where he threw 5 1/3 hitless innings with 11 strikeouts. However, he faced challenges in the AL Championship Series, allowing five runs in four innings during Game 2 but bouncing back to secure a win in Game 6.
Schneider has not yet revealed who will start Game 2, keeping the baseball world on edge as he weighs options among Kevin Gausman, Max Scherzer, and Shane Bieber. Gausman, who pitched in relief during Game 7 of the ALCS, was held back to ensure optimal performance moving forward.
The Dodgers have also announced their pitching strategy, with Snell starting in Game 1 and Yoshinobu Yamamoto slated for Game 2. The anticipation builds as fans prepare for what could be a thrilling matchup.
This World Series is not just a game; it’s a showcase of emerging talents and seasoned veterans. As the clock ticks down to the first pitch, the stakes have never been higher for both teams, and the excitement is palpable among fans and analysts alike.
Stay tuned for further updates as this story develops and the Blue Jays look to make history in the upcoming games.
