UPDATE: Shoppers flocked to Cherry Hill Mall in New Jersey early this morning, many braving the chill in their pajamas to seize Black Friday deals. With doors opening at 5 a.m., eager customers lined up outside JCPenney before sunrise, driven by the lure of holiday bargains.

The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as families prepared for a day of shopping. Young shopper Julianna candidly shared her reluctance, stating, “I didn’t!” However, traditions and the thrill of discounts pushed many to rise early. Notably, Kat Marchowsky, who arrived at 4:30 a.m. with her mom and friend, expressed the joy of sharing this ritual on her mother’s birthday: “It’s nice to spend time with her, and it’s a really good way to start and end Christmas shopping.”

While some shoppers opted for caffeine boosts before diving into the shopping frenzy, others reminisced about their past experiences. Arlene Genden Sage from New York shared, “We would drive here the day before, have Thanksgiving dinner, and get up at the crack of dawn.” Her cousin, Brittany Sage, added that the family has been making this trip since she was seven years old, emphasizing the tradition’s importance.

The mall, which will remain open until 9 p.m. today, has expanded shopping hours to accommodate the influx of customers. In addition to major retailers like Macy’s and JCPenney, which will operate for an additional hour, local vendors are also showcasing their goods in the Grand Court, offering shoppers a chance to support small businesses. Organizer Kathy Hott remarked, “Black Friday is my favorite vending day of the year – all the hustle and bustle.”

As shoppers continue to pour into Cherry Hill Mall, the energy remains high, with many eager to take advantage of the sales. With the holiday season officially underway, the rush for bargains is set to continue throughout the day. Stay tuned for updates on the latest deals and shopper experiences as Black Friday unfolds.
