Andy Garcia Unveils Gallino’s Hidden Motives in Landman Episode
Andy Garcia has shed light on the complexities of his character, Gallino, in the recent episode of the series Landman, which premiered on November 30. The episode, titled “Almost a Home,” delves deeper into Gallino’s motivations concerning his relationship with Cooper, portrayed by Jacob Lofland. This installment not only marked a pivotal moment for the character but also showcased Gallino’s dual identity as both a drug cartel boss and a legitimate businessman.
In the latest episode, Gallino meets Tommy Norris, played by Billy Bob Thornton, in two distinct encounters. The first meeting is tense, highlighting Tommy’s disapproval of his son Cooper’s association with the drug lord. Garcia explains that Gallino’s pursuit of Cooper goes beyond mere financial gain. He emphasizes that Gallino harbors a desire for friendship with Tommy, stating, “I think Gallino is always doing things for pure profit, but I think there’s an added incentive… He wants to be friends with Tommy.”
This duality is evident in how Gallino navigates his public persona as Dan Morrell, a private club owner. During a second encounter with Tommy, Gallino’s charm and calm demeanor catch Tommy off guard, blurring the lines between ally and adversary. Garcia likens Gallino’s approach to that of a hawk, stealthily observing before making his move.
As the plot unfolds, viewers are left to ponder the implications of Gallino’s relationship with Cooper and Tommy. The stakes are high, and both characters have laid their cards on the table, suggesting that a complicated alliance may form.
Garcia, a well-known film actor, expressed enthusiasm about joining Landman, despite co-creator Taylor Sheridan initially presenting the role without a script. “Taylor’s writing and the shows he creates are amazing. I mean, it’s just sublime storytelling,” Garcia remarked. His admiration for Sheridan’s work was evident, as he praised the narrative depth of the series.
As Season 2 progresses, the introduction of prominent actors like Garcia and Demi Moore has significantly increased their screen time, suggesting a shift in focus rather than the introduction of new characters. The show’s trajectory remains compelling, with viewers eagerly anticipating how these dynamics will evolve in the coming weeks.
New episodes of Landman air on Sundays on Paramount+, promising more intrigue and character development as the season unfolds.
