UPDATE: A dramatic police chase ended in a rollover crash on I-35 North last night, just after 8:25 PM, as a woman attempted to evade law enforcement. The incident unfolded in the 12800 block of the highway in Live Oak, where reckless driving and high speeds led to a shocking collision.

According to the Live Oak Police Department, an officer initiated a traffic stop on the female driver, who was reportedly driving “recklessly and at a high rate of speed.” Initially, the vehicle slowed down but then accelerated sharply, prompting the officer to disengage from the pursuit due to safety concerns. Live Oak dispatch immediately alerted the San Antonio Police Department to the situation.

Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle take the O’Connor Road exit before it crashed. The officer, who had resumed following the suspect, arrived on the scene to find the car overturned. Fortunately, the female driver managed to exit the vehicle unaided but displayed signs of intoxication, with a strong smell of alcohol detected.

Emergency responders transported the driver to a local hospital, where she was later released. Subsequently, she was arrested and charged with evading arrest in a motor vehicle. Tragically, her male passenger was not as fortunate; he was extracted from the wreckage and is currently in critical condition at the hospital.

The investigation remains active, with police indicating that additional charges may be forthcoming as they gather more evidence. This incident raises significant concerns about reckless driving and public safety on busy highways.

Authorities are urging witnesses or anyone with information about the crash to come forward. The community is left shaken as they await further developments in this ongoing investigation.
