Photos released from the construction site show the submarine’s exterior nearing completion, with analysts suggesting it may already house a small reactor essential for nuclear operations. This submarine is expected to feature launch tubes for submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs), similar to North Korea’s existing 3,000-ton Kim Gun Ok submarine.

Kim Jong-un emphasized during the site visit that North Korea has established a “nuclear shield” to protect its sovereignty, asserting the nation’s readiness to expand its nuclear capabilities as necessary.
