Three Wounded in Urgent Shooting at Idaho Sheriff’s Office
UPDATE: A shooting incident at the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office in Wallace, Idaho, has left three people wounded, including an officer, as of Friday afternoon. The chaotic scene erupted around 2:30 p.m. PT, when a gunman opened fire outside the sheriff’s headquarters, prompting a swift response from local and federal law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and U.S. Marshals Service.
According to Shoshone County Sheriff William Eddy, the suspect targeted two women sitting in a pickup truck outside the building before entering the lobby and continuing the attack. “The guy shot through the windshield, and it struck a lady in the leg in the front seat, and a lady in the leg in the backseat,” Eddy detailed during a news conference.
All three victims sustained minor injuries, including one officer who was struck in the ear, but it remains unclear whether he was inside the building during the shooting. Authorities confirmed that no hostages were taken during the incident.
The suspect, armed with multiple firearms, was fatally shot by law enforcement inside the sheriff’s office lobby. He was pronounced dead at 4:15 p.m.. Sheriff Eddy did not disclose the suspect’s identity or a possible motive for the attack. “He just walked in,” Eddy stated, emphasizing that the lobby is typically open for the public to file reports or contact dispatch.
As the investigation progresses, local residents remain on edge following this violent event in the normally quiet rural area, located about 45 miles southeast of Coeur d’Alene, near the Idaho-Washington border.
Authorities have yet to provide further details, but community members are urged to stay vigilant. The latest updates will continue to emerge as law enforcement investigates this alarming incident. Stay tuned for more developments as they unfold.
