College of Engineering & Computer Science Celebrates Rankings Boost
The College of Engineering & Computer Science at the University of Tulsa has recently achieved a significant milestone, rising in the rankings published by U.S. News & World Report. This advancement highlights the commitment of students, faculty, and staff to excellence in engineering and computer science disciplines. The college expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from its alumni and friends, which plays a crucial role in fostering this progress.
In September, the college launched its Hulings Distinguished Lecture Series with a presentation by S. Sundar Manoharan, Ph.D., from Pandit Deendayal Energy University. His lecture focused on the vital transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy—an increasingly important topic in today’s global energy discussions. Events like this not only enrich the academic environment but also stimulate important conversations within the community.
Engagement and Innovation in Action
The fall season has brought a surge of activity and engagement to the college. Faculty and students from the McDougall School of Petroleum Engineering participated in the Society of Petroleum Engineers Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition held in Houston. This event provided valuable networking opportunities, allowing attendees to connect with industry leaders and showcase the innovative research and projects taking place at the university.
As the academic year progresses, the campus atmosphere is charged with excitement, especially with the arrival of football season. The Golden Hurricane football team is generating enthusiasm among students and alumni alike, uniting them in support of their team.
The college’s leadership, including Inaugural Dean Andreas A. Polycarpou and James Sorem, expressed appreciation for the community’s involvement. Their message reflects a commitment to continued growth and collaboration as they navigate the journey ahead together. The support from alumni and friends remains an inspiring force, driving the college towards future achievements.
