URGENT UPDATE: Gold’s Gym has officially exited all of Southern California, selling its 23 locations to EōS Fitness, a move that took effect on October 29, 2023. The only exception is the iconic gym at Venice Beach, where the brand was founded nearly 60 years ago.

In an email to members, EōS Fitness reassured gym-goers that they can continue using their regular facilities during this transition, emphasizing a “seamless” changeover with no disruptions to workouts. “Our priority is to make this transition as seamless as possible, ensuring your workouts stay uninterrupted,” the company stated.

The decision to sell was described as a “carefully made decision” by Gold’s Gym SoCal, which highlighted its commitment to the community over the years. EōS Fitness was selected to “honor that legacy” and continue serving members with the same dedication. Notably, EōS Fitness CEO Rich Drengberg previously spent over 15 years at Gold’s Gym SoCal, contributing to its growth and community impact.

New signage has already appeared at multiple former Gold’s locations, including one in Hollywood, declaring, “Gold’s Gym SoCal has flexed its last rep. Welcome to EōS Fitness. Same sweat. New swagger.”

The Venice location, often referred to as the “Mecca of Bodybuilding,” will remain under Gold’s Gym ownership, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s history. Founded in 1965, Gold’s Gym has been a cornerstone of Southern California’s fitness culture, attracting bodybuilders, athletes, and celebrities alike.

As EōS Fitness expands its footprint to over 200 gyms across seven states, members of the former Gold’s locations can expect innovative fitness and recovery options, pristine facilities, and the latest in fitness gear.

This transition signifies the end of an era for Gold’s Gym, a brand that has played a pivotal role in shaping Los Angeles’ gym scene for decades. For fitness enthusiasts and long-time members, the future holds both continuity and change in their beloved workout spaces.

Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops and what it means for fitness culture in Southern California.
