One Dead, Another Injured in Grayslake Train Collision

BREAKING: A serious train collision near Grayslake has left one motorist dead and another injured. The incident occurred around noon today, October 30, 2025, when a vehicle was struck by an outbound Metra commuter rail train on the Milwaukee-District North line.

Authorities confirm the crash took place at the intersection of Hainesville Road and the train tracks. According to Metra spokesperson Meg Reile, the train was en route to Fox Lake when it collided with the vehicle. The identity of the deceased motorist has not yet been released as the investigation is ongoing.

Injuries were also reported among passengers. One person was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center with a minor knee injury, sustained due to the train’s abrupt stop following the collision.

Metra reports that service on the line was interrupted for approximately three hours as emergency personnel from the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District responded to the scene.
