Dr. Jay Kim and Dr. Daria H. Lee have officially joined the dental clinic at the FHP Health Center, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the community. Their backgrounds in military dentistry and advanced dental procedures position them to make a significant impact on patient care.

Dr. Jay Kim’s Extensive Experience

Dr. Kim previously practiced as a general dentist at Apra Harbor Dental Clinic in Santa Rita, Guam. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in relocating and optimizing the layout of the clinic to enhance dental productivity. His career also includes positions at both the Naval Base Guam Branch Dental Clinic and the Naval Branch Dental Clinic at Sewell’s Point in Norfolk, Virginia.

He earned his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from Boston University, graduating with honors. His comprehensive training spans various dental specialties, including endodontics, oral surgery, and prosthodontics. Notably, Dr. Kim is proficient in CAD/CAM dentistry, allowing for rapid production of dental crowns, and he successfully implemented Genesis software to facilitate the transition to military electronic health records.

Dr. Kim holds active dental licenses in both Guam and Virginia and has achieved a remarkable operational readiness rate of 97% for military service members. His leadership has consistently led to high production levels among Navy dental lieutenants. Rose Grino, R.N., of the health care delivery administration at FHP Health Clinic, stated, “Dr. Kim’s background in military dentistry and dedication to patient care makes him an invaluable addition to our team.”

Dr. Daria H. Lee’s Expertise in Dental Care

Dr. Lee recently served as a Dental Officer in the US Navy at USNMRTC Guam and aboard the USS Osborne. Her expertise encompasses restorative treatments, extractions, endodontics, and advanced dental procedures. She also held the role of interim department head, where she oversaw personnel and equipment while developing standard operating procedures for infection control.

She completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, where she not only excelled academically but also served as a floating instructor for the Explorations in Dentistry program. Dr. Lee’s training includes specialized experience with CEREC/CADCAM technology and ceramic veneers, enhancing her capabilities in advanced dental care.

Dr. Lee maintained a dental readiness rate of 99% for naval sailors throughout her military service. Her accolades include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal in 2022 and the Patient Care Safety Champion Award from the US Naval Hospital Guam in 2021. Fluent in both Korean and English, she holds active dental licenses in Guam and Michigan and is a member of several professional organizations, including the Academy of General Dentistry.
