UPDATE: Bruce J. Stark, a beloved leader in the Jacksonville community, has passed away at the age of 80. Stark, originally from Schenectady, NY, died on October 13, 2025, in Jacksonville, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and service.

Stark was a proud veteran, serving in the U.S. Naval Reserve and actively deployed in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970. His commitment to helping others extended beyond his military service; he was a dedicated member of the Jacksonville Jewish Center and served as a minyan captain. He was also involved with organizations like Magen David Adom and the Jacksonville Humane Society.

Known for his deep love of family, Stark fostered and adopted dogs through the Golden Receiver Rescue Society with his wife, Katherine Senrick Stark. They opened their home to countless animals, embodying their shared commitment to compassion.

Bruce’s interests included attending classic car shows, where he could showcase his passion for vintage automobiles. His family, including son Aaron Stark and daughter Rachel Stark Corum, along with grandchildren Elliot David Corum and Arya Corum, were at the heart of his life. His passing leaves a profound void in their lives and the wider Jacksonville community.

Stark’s sisters, Nancy Schoenburg of Boca Raton, FL, and Barbara Heisler of Tucson, AZ, also mourn his loss. His impact on friends and family, as well as his unwavering support for community initiatives, will be remembered by many.

As the community grieves, Stark’s life serves as a reminder of the importance of kindness and service. His dedication to helping others will inspire those who knew him.
