According to the Mamou Police Department, the incident occurred around 18:15 on Saturday, March 2, 2024, on 9th Street near Mulberry Avenue.

Emergency responders rushed Shaw to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Authorities have stated that the weapon believed to be used in the shooting was recovered at the scene and is suspected to have been stolen.
