Gloria Rosencrants, a cherished figure in the Rochester community, passed away on October 18, 2025, at the age of 94. Known for her artistic talents and commitment to community service, Gloria leaves behind a legacy of love and creativity. She was the beloved wife of Ed Rosencrants, who predeceased her on July 9, 2025.

Born in South St. Paul, Minnesota, Gloria was the daughter of William and Ann Leimbek. She attended South St. Paul High School, where she met her future husband, Ed. They married on June 20, 1953, and shared a remarkable 72 years of love, continuing to exchange heartfelt letters every Christmas.

Gloria pursued her passion for art at the University of Minnesota, where she earned a degree in fine arts. Her skillful creations garnered numerous awards at local and state levels. As a freelance artist, she worked with organizations such as K&K Realty, Edina Realty, and the Historical Society of Rochester and Olmsted County. Her artistic talents extended to quilting and Norwegian Hardanger needlework, earning her recognition as a Norwegian Cultural Skills Specialist from the Sons of Norway.

Community involvement was a cornerstone of Gloria’s life. For many years, she served as a leader for the Girl Scouts, inspiring confidence and opportunity in young girls. She guided her three daughters through their scouting journey, from Brownies to First Class Senior Scouts, positively influencing the lives of many in the process.

Active Community Member and Enthusiastic Socialite

Gloria was a devoted member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, which she joined in 1960. She participated in the Altar Guild, volunteered for various church activities, and generously contributed her artistic talents to fundraising events. Her enthusiasm for social activities was infectious; she enjoyed participating in golf leagues and bridge clubs and had a passion for cross-country skiing. Gloria and Ed were particularly known for their exceptional dancing skills, often captivating audiences with their performances.

Her love for family, friends, and neighbors was evident in everything she did. Gloria taught those around her how to embrace life with joy and generosity. Now, she is reunited with Ed, and one can imagine them dancing together once more.

Gloria is survived by her three daughters: Robin (Tom) Kleinert, Gail Cook, and Diana (Keith) Kressin. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, including Justin (Heather) Cook, Chris Cook, Teddy Cook, Annie (Mike) Oldenburg, Jeff (Bryanne) Kleinert, and two great-grandchildren, Henry and Malcolm Oldenburg.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 AM on November 15, 2025, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, located at 2830 18th Ave NW, Rochester, MN 55901. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Mount Olive Lutheran Church or The Girl Scouts of Minnesota. Community members are encouraged to support local Girl Scout Cookie stands in February, sharing the joy of cookies with friends and family, a tradition Gloria cherished.
