Billie Eilish and James Cameron’s Concert Documentary Hits Theatres
Billie Eilish has announced that her highly anticipated concert documentary, co-directed with acclaimed filmmaker James Cameron, will be released in theatres worldwide on March 20, 2026. The film, titled Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D), will showcase performances from Eilish’s recent global tour, which has garnered significant attention and acclaim.
The announcement was made via an Instagram post where Eilish expressed her excitement about the project. She stated, “This has been one of my favorite tours ever and being able to capture it and co-direct this film with @jamescameronofficial has truly been a dream come true. Can’t wait for you all to see it.” The post also featured a new image of the singer alongside Cameron, further highlighting their collaboration.
Collaboration with Legendary Filmmaker
The documentary will be distributed globally by Paramount Pictures in association with Darkroom Records, Interscope Films, and Lightstorm Entertainment. It promises to deliver a unique viewing experience as it is presented in 3D, a format that aligns with Cameron’s renowned expertise in filmmaking. His recent work includes the highly successful Avatar: Fire and Ash.
Eilish’s tour in support of her third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, has been a remarkable success. The album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, featuring the top-10 single “Lunch.” The documentary will capture key performances recorded during her extensive tour, which took place throughout 2024 and 2025.
Building Anticipation
The idea of a concert documentary was first hinted at during a performance in Manchester earlier in the year. Eilish noted that there were more cameras than usual in the venue, indicating a special project was underway. While she could not disclose full details at that time, she confirmed that it was a collaboration with Cameron, generating excitement among her fans.
As the release date approaches, anticipation is building for what promises to be a captivating blend of Eilish’s musical talent and Cameron’s cinematic vision. With both artists at the helm, Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D) is set to offer audiences an immersive experience that highlights Eilish’s artistry and the energy of her live performances.
