Community Mourns Loss of Betty Jean Henk Jandt at 91

Betty Jean Henk Jandt, a beloved member of the Seguin community, passed away on **November 19, 2025**, at the age of 91. She was born on **March 20, 1934**, in Zorn, Texas, to Elenora Katie Meister and Adolph Bruno Henk. Her life was marked by dedication to her family and service to her community.

Throughout her career, Betty contributed to the local educational system by working in school cafeterias for both the **Alice Independent School District** and the **Seguin Independent School District**. In addition, she spent many years babysitting for families across Texas, nurturing countless children in her care.

Betty and her husband, **Albert A. Jandt**, were active members of **Cross Church** in Seguin since 1979, where they built lasting friendships. She had a passion for music and dancing, and she was an avid fan of the **Atlanta Braves Baseball Team**. Family and friends fondly remember her for her delicious oatmeal cookies and the joy she brought to family outings, including hunting and camping trips.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Alan, Roger, James, John, Edward, Leo Henk, and Lucille Hehs. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Albert A. Jandt, along with their children: **Roxie Melton** and her husband John, **Dennis Jandt** and his wife Carol Renay, **Darryl Jandt** and his wife Sandra, and **Rayma Jean Jones** and her husband David.

Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, including Johnathon Melton and his wife Bree, Stacey Melton and fiancé Tim Hajovsky, Megan Jandt, Caitlin Moreno and her husband Mario, Jacob Jandt and his wife Brittany, Shelby LaLonde and her husband Dylan, Matthew Jandt and his wife Sarah, Sarah Seelow, Michelle Seelow, and Emily Jones. Betty was also a proud great-grandmother to **Heather** and **Hannah Melton**, **Josephine Lee**, **Rafael**, **Michaelangelo**, **Gabriel**, **Phoebe**, **Charlotte**, **Jameson**, **Eleanor Moreno**, **Adeline LaLonde**, **LuKasey Jandt**, **Addison** and **Hudson McCreless**, **Zoey Seelow**, and **Dakota Snodgrass**.

Betty’s family also includes her sisters-in-law, **Dorene Henk** and **Annie Henk**, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.

Memorial Services and Tributes

Visitation will take place on **November 25, 2025**, at **1:00 p.m.** at Cross Church, followed by the funeral service at **2:00 p.m.** The service will be officiated by Reverend Jim Price, Reverend Jeremy Roy, and Chaplain Emanuel Carpenter. Interment will occur at **Lone Oak Cemetery** in Geronimo, Texas. A reception will follow at the **Friedens Church Activity Center**.

Serving as pallbearers will be Johnathon Melton, Tim Hajovsky, Matthew Jandt, Jacob Jandt, Dylan LaLonde, and Mario Moreno.

The family expresses gratitude to **Guadalupe Regional Hospice Services** for their compassionate care, as well as to Delia Retlidge and Monica Bell for their dedicated service over the years.
