Dylan Dreyer Reflects on Family Memories as She Moves House
On October 23, 2023, Dylan Dreyer, the meteorologist for TODAY, announced a significant transition for her family: they are moving from their two-bedroom apartment in New York City. Dreyer shared a heartfelt farewell to her sons’ bedroom through a series of images on Instagram, highlighting the process of repainting the room and reminiscing about the memories created there.
In her Instagram post, Dreyer showcased the transformation of the room from an olive green shade to a more neutral color. Accompanying the images were nostalgic photographs of her three sons—Calvin, aged 8, Oliver, 5, and Rusty, 4—playing and growing up in their shared space, which featured a notable triple bunk bed. “This room holds a lot of memories and I thank God every day for each and every one of them,” she wrote in the caption. “And the boys have a whole lifetime of love and dreams ahead of them! Just not in a triple bunk bed!”
Embracing Change and Cherished Memories
Dreyer has often shared her experiences of living in a smaller space with her growing family. In a previous Instagram post from 2022, she humorously addressed the advice she received from critics suggesting the family should find a larger home. “You have to move,” they said, “You’ll never fit in your apartment,” she recalled. Despite the challenges of living in a two-bedroom apartment, she found creative ways to maximize their living space, such as using loft beds and cribs to accommodate her children.
The decision to move comes as her sons grow older and the need for more space becomes increasingly apparent. Dreyer reflected on the bittersweet nature of leaving their first family home, which they purchased when she was pregnant with Calvin. “Now we’ve grown out of our two-bedroom apartment!” she stated. The family is transitioning into a new chapter, seeking a residence that better fits their current needs.
Looking Forward to New Adventures
Dreyer expressed mixed emotions about the move, stating, “I’m so sad about it but also so ready at the same time!” She described a love/hate relationship with their apartment; while the space became increasingly cramped as the boys grew, it also served as the backdrop for countless cherished moments. “I was mad every day with so little space and the boys bothering each other at night,” she admitted. “The wild running around but no space to do so. The boys definitely need more running room!”
This transition marks a significant milestone for the family, as they prepare to embrace new adventures in a larger home. As they look forward to this next chapter, the memories of their time in the apartment will remain a treasured part of their family history.
