Kiké Hernández Approaches Milestone as Dodgers Aim for Glory
The Los Angeles Dodgers are on the brink of making history as they aim for back-to-back World Series titles, a feat not achieved in 25 years. Following a decisive sweep over the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series (NLCS), the Dodgers return to the World Series with significant momentum. A standout performance from star pitcher Shohei Ohtani, who struck out 10 batters and hit three home runs in Game 4 of the NLCS, has bolstered the team’s confidence as they prepare for their most critical series of the season.
As the Dodgers gear up for this pivotal moment, Kiké Hernández is poised to break a franchise record. During a press conference ahead of Game 4 of the NLCS, Hernández learned that he would surpass the Los Angeles Dodgers record for the most postseason games played during the World Series.
Hernández Reflects on Milestone
“I’m humbled, fortunate. This is not just any franchise, man. This is the LA Dodgers,” Hernández remarked. “They’ve been around for a long time, and they have a lot of history. For a guy like me from Puerto Rico, who has kind of swum against the current my entire life, to be sitting in this position is pretty special.”
Despite recognizing the significance of this achievement, Hernández is focused on the games ahead rather than reflecting on his career. “I haven’t really wanted to reflect too much on it because there’s going to be a time for that once I’m done playing. And I’m going to have a lot of years to reflect on it,” he said.
As he prepares for Game 1, Hernández will equal Justin Turner‘s record of 86 total postseason games. If successful, he will set a new milestone for the franchise. Throughout his nine seasons with the Dodgers, Hernández has reached the playoffs each year, showcasing his consistent performance and dedication to the team.
Impressive Postseason Performance
In the current postseason, Hernández has shown impressive stats, with a batting average of .306, an on-base percentage of .375, and a slugging percentage of .792. He has recorded four doubles and four runs batted in (RBIs) this postseason, contributing significantly to the team’s success. As the Dodgers embark on their quest for another championship, Hernández looks to maintain this momentum.
With the World Series on the horizon, the Dodgers are not only chasing a title but are also witnessing a player reach a significant career milestone. The combination of team spirit, individual achievements, and the drive for victory creates an electrifying atmosphere as Los Angeles aims to solidify its legacy in baseball history.
