Central Texas Teams Surge into Week 3 of Football Playoffs
UPDATE: The excitement intensifies as nine Central Texas high school football teams advance to the third round of the UIL state playoffs this week. Defending champions Vandegrift and six-time state winners Lake Travis are leading the charge, showcasing impressive performances over the weekend.
Just last Friday, Vandegrift dominated San Antonio Brandeis with a decisive 37-7 victory, while Lake Travis edged out San Antonio Brennan in a nail-biting 13-7 match. These results have set the stage for an exhilarating playoff atmosphere in Central Texas.
Other teams making strides include Dripping Springs, Weiss, Bastrop, San Marcos, Wimberley, Llano, and Granger. Unfortunately, several local teams with playoff aspirations faced elimination, including Cedar Park, Georgetown, LBJ, Anderson, Hutto, Pflugerville, Connally, Liberty Hill, and Lampasas.
As the playoffs heat up, one of the most anticipated matchups is set for Friday: Vandegrift will go head-to-head against San Marcos, a team that has made a remarkable turnaround after finishing last season with an 0-10 record. This clash promises to be a highlight of the week.
