BREAKING: Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon is sidelined for at least 4-6 weeks due to a Grade 2 right hamstring strain, as confirmed by sources to ESPN earlier today. Gordon sustained the injury during Friday’s victory against the Houston Rockets and underwent an MRI on Saturday that highlighted the severity of the damage.

This injury is a significant blow to the Nuggets, marking the second starter now out for an extended period, following Christian Braun, who is expected to miss at least six weeks due to an ankle sprain suffered on November 12.

Gordon was in stellar form this season, having scored a career-high 50 points on opening night against the Golden State Warriors, becoming only the sixth player to achieve this in a season opener. His current averages of 18.8 points and a remarkable 44.4% from beyond the arc are career highs, positioning him among the elite players averaging 15 points on 50-40-85 shooting, according to ESPN Research.

Entering Friday’s match, Gordon was already managing bilateral hamstring issues. Last season, he played through a Grade 2 left hamstring strain during a critical Game 7 in the Western Conference semifinals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Nuggets, currently at 12-4 and sitting second in the Western Conference behind the Thunder (16-1), will need to lean heavily on their depth during this tough stretch. The team has made key offseason additions, including Cam Johnson, Bruce Brown, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Jonas Valanciunas, and will now rely on fourth-year forward Peyton Watson to step up in Gordon’s absence.

As the Nuggets navigate this challenging period, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how the team adapts without two of its key players. The urgency is palpable as the Nuggets aim to maintain their momentum in a competitive Western Conference.
