Erie County Invests $47.5 Million in Urgent Road Projects for 2025

UPDATE: Erie County officials have just confirmed a monumental investment of $47.5 million in road projects for the 2025 season, marking a significant stride in infrastructure upgrades. County Executive Mark Poloncarz announced that this year’s efforts include a major $5.5 million rehabilitation of Maryvale Drive in Cheektowaga, with more projects already on the horizon.

“This investment continues my administration’s commitment to enhancing public infrastructure, ensuring our roads and bridges are the safest possible for residents and motorists,” Poloncarz stated. The ambitious agenda for 2025 entails a total of 117 miles of road improvements and the rehabilitation of five bridges, showcasing the county’s dedication to effective transportation routes.

In a powerful endorsement of the county’s infrastructure efforts, Poloncarz emphasized, “We have invested over a quarter of a billion dollars in our roads and bridges over the past five years. This is a testament to our ongoing commitment to getting this vital work done.”

Commissioner of Public Works Bill Geary added that the county will be utilizing the Bridge New York program to undertake the reconstruction of 14 bridges in the coming three years. The projected costs for these projects will range from $2 million to as much as $6 million each.
