Guy Fieri Rushed to Hospital After Gruesome On-Set Injury
URGENT UPDATE: Celebrity chef Guy Fieri is currently wheelchair-bound after suffering a severe injury on the set of his new show, Flavortown Food Fight. The incident occurred when Fieri “slipped down a set of steps,” resulting in a torn quad muscle that left him in immediate need of surgery.
Fieri, 57 years old, revealed to Fox News Digital that the accident happened while filming. “One foot went forward and the other foot got caught on the threshold,” he explained. This painful fall resulted in a serious injury that a doctor described as “the biggest, thickest” quad tear he had encountered in his two-decade career.
Upon rushing to the hospital, Fieri underwent surgery to repair the damage, which he described as his muscle “exploding” in the center of his quad. “You normally tear that muscle at your tendon or the tendon tears off the bone, but this was right in the center,” he noted, highlighting the unusual nature of the injury.
Despite being surrounded by a crew of 125 people, Fieri and his team found ways to adapt and continue filming. “We figured out how to pivot through it and have some creative filming techniques,” he said, emphasizing the show must go on even in challenging circumstances.
Currently, Fieri is navigating life with crutches and a wheelchair, as he must stay off his injured leg for eight weeks. After this recovery period, he will receive a cast and begin rehabilitation, which he is eager to start “as fast as possible.”
Though the injury has been a setback, Fieri maintains a positive outlook. His eldest son, Hunter Fieri, will step up to lead the Thanksgiving festivities this year. Hunter humorously texted his dad that it’s his “time to shine.” Fieri’s youngest son, Ryder, and his nephew, Jules, are also prepared to help in the kitchen.
“It’s gonna be me quarterbacking from the wheelchair and telling them what to do,” Fieri shared, highlighting the family spirit in overcoming this challenge.
As Fieri navigates this difficult time, he continues to inspire many with his resilience and dedication to his family and work. Stay tuned for more updates on his recovery and future projects.
