Holiday Extravaganza Begins Now in Chicago’s North Shore Suburbs
UPDATE: Starting today, Chicago’s North Shore suburbs are transforming into a winter wonderland filled with festive activities! Residents and visitors can now enjoy a plethora of events, including dazzling light displays, visits with Santa, and holiday markets. This is your chance to immerse yourself in the holiday spirit!
The excitement kicks off with Lightscape at the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe, running from November 14 through January 4. This stunning 1.3-mile walking trail showcases designer-curated holiday lights, art, and music, along with festive treats. Tickets are available at chicagobotanic.org/lightscape.
In Northbrook, the Willow Hill Lights drive-through holiday light show opens nightly at 5 p.m. The 2.5-mile spectacle is priced at $40 per car, and advance purchase is recommended. Entrance is on Willow Road, located between I-94 and I-294. More details can be found at willowhilllights.com.
Mark your calendars for the Light the Lights Festival in Glencoe on November 28. The festivities include a lighting ceremony at 5 p.m., live music, character meet-and-greets, and a trackless train ride. This family-friendly event is sure to make your holiday season brighter!
From November 28 through December 7, kids can drop letters to Santa at the Santa’s Mailbox in Wilmette. Simply include a self-addressed stamped envelope to receive a special reply. This magical experience is free and open to all.
On December 4, the Holiday Sip & Shop from 4 to 7 p.m. in downtown Wilmette invites shoppers to enjoy in-store promotions and refreshments while getting into the festive spirit. Participating merchants will offer free gift wrapping.
The holiday cheer continues with the Winnetka Annual Tree Lighting on December 5 at 5 p.m. at Dwyer Park. Families can enjoy caroling, hot chocolate, and visits with Santa. This beloved event promises to be a highlight of the season.
Don’t miss the Downtown Evanston Tree Lighting on December 6 from 4:30 to 7 p.m., featuring performances by local choirs and a chance to meet Santa at The Merion.
For those looking for unique holiday activities, join the Downtown Skokie Holiday Cookie Walk on December 13, where participants visit various locations to collect festive cookies. This delightful experience costs $36.35 and supports the Skokie Community Foundation.
The excitement culminates with the Winter Solstice Parade of Lights on December 20 at Shelton Park. Participants can decorate themselves, pets, or strollers with lights for a festive stroll, ending with songs and hot chocolate by the fire pit.
