Kamala Harris Hints at 2028 Presidential Run in Urgent BBC Interview
BREAKING: In an urgent revelation, Kamal Harris suggested she may run for U.S. president again in the 2028 election. The announcement came during an interview with Laura Kuenssberg on the BBC, set to air this Sunday, with excerpts released today. Harris expressed a deep commitment to service, stating, “I am not done,” and indicated that it is possible her grandnieces could see a woman in the White House – potentially her.
While Harris, who just turned 61, has not made a final decision, her comments signal a strong ambition more than three years ahead of the election. Previously, Harris lost to Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election after President Joe Biden dropped out just weeks before the Democratic convention.
In her latest book, 107 Days, released on September 23, she reflects on the brief length of her campaign. Despite trailing in polls for the Democratic nomination behind California Governor Gavin Newsom, she dismissed their significance, stating, “If I listened to polls, I would not have run for my first office, or my second office.”
Harris also took aim at Trump, labeling him a “tyrant” and criticizing his administration’s actions. In a pointed statement, she noted, “He said he would weaponize the Department of Justice – and he has done exactly that.” Her commentary highlighted concerns regarding the politicization of federal agencies under Trump’s leadership, emphasizing the dangers of his administration’s approach.
The White House responded swiftly to Harris’s remarks. Spokeswoman Abigail Jackson stated, “When Kamala Harris lost the election in a landslide, she should’ve taken the hint—the American people don’t care about her absurd lies.” This response underscores the ongoing tension between Harris and the current administration.
The former California senator and attorney general also criticized business leaders for capitulating to Trump’s demands. “There are many… that have capitulated since day one,” she said, indicating a troubling trend of bending to the will of power for personal or corporate gain.
Earlier this year, in July, Harris announced she would not seek the California governorship in 2026, stating, “For now, my leadership—and public service—will not be in elected office.”
As the political landscape shifts towards the next election cycle, Harris’s potential candidacy could reshape the Democratic field. Her comments today are likely to resonate in political circles and among voters eager for a new vision.
