Nvidia CEO Hails Release of Engineer Avinatan Or from Hamas
URGENT UPDATE: Nvidia Corp. CEO Jensen Huang has just announced the safe release of Israeli engineer Avinatan Or, who spent over two years in captivity with Hamas. This significant development comes after a U.S.-brokered ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
Or was taken hostage along with his partner, Noa Argamani, during the brutal attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023. Argamani was rescued in June 2024, and now, after more than two years, Or has finally returned home, marking the close of a painful chapter for his family and colleagues.
In a heartfelt letter to Nvidia employees, Huang expressed his profound gratitude, stating, “I am profoundly moved and deeply grateful to share that, just moments ago, our colleague, Avinatan Or, was released to the Red Cross in Gaza. After two unimaginable years in Hamas captivity, Avinatan has come home.” This news is a relief for many, as it highlights the emotional impact of such a long ordeal.
Huang also commended Or’s mother, Ditza Or, for her “strength, courage and unwavering hope.” He revealed that Nvidia employees in Israel stood vigil alongside her, united in their determination for Or’s safe return.
The impact of this release resonates beyond Nvidia. Huang acknowledged the tragic loss of employees in the ongoing conflict, including Amit Chayut and Danielle Waldman, whose father is Eyal Waldman, the founder of Mellanox, acquired by Nvidia in 2020.
Furthermore, Huang credited former President Donald Trump for his role in mediating the ceasefire and the release agreement. Trump shared Huang’s letter on Truth Social, referencing it as a “Miracle” and emphasizing the importance of the agreement.
This release is not only a personal victory for Or’s family and Nvidia but also underscores the complexities of the current geopolitical landscape. As the situation develops, many are left wondering what the future holds for similar negotiations and the ongoing conflict in the region.
The global community watches closely as more details emerge. Nvidia’s stock remains robust, ranking high in momentum and growth, reflecting investor confidence amid these challenging circumstances.
For those looking to understand the implications of this development, it’s clear that the situation remains fluid. Readers are encouraged to stay updated as more news unfolds regarding the effects of the ceasefire and the broader implications for the region.
