UPDATE: As Halloween approaches, a new survey reveals Connecticut’s top three costume stores, providing shoppers with quick options for their last-minute outfits. Conducted by Montana Capital, the survey of 3,011 shoppers highlights the best spots in the Nutmeg State.

Topping the list is the Goodspeed Musicals Costume Center in East Haddam. This unique costume center, nestled within the creative hub of Goodspeed Musicals, offers a stunning array of theatrical costumes, from vintage elegance to playful character wear. As described by Montana Capital, it’s a “quiet treasure” for creatives and casual visitors alike, making it a must-visit destination right before Halloween.

In second place is Sophia’s Gallery in Cos Cob, known for its stylish twist on costume shopping. The boutique features a carefully curated selection of glamorous pieces, turning any event into a special occasion. Shoppers rave about the personalized service, with every detail meticulously attended to, making costume assembling feel more like creative styling.

Completing the top three is CT Stage in Plainville. This store combines a friendly atmosphere with a creative edge, offering costumes suitable for everything from school plays to community festivals. As locals flock to the shop, it buzzes with excitement during the Halloween season, showcasing Connecticut’s rich storytelling tradition through its diverse costume offerings.

Just as critical as costume selection, the financial habits of Connecticut residents regarding Halloween spending were also examined. The survey revealed that 52% of respondents plan to cut back on their Halloween expenditures this year. Despite this, 70% of people still view Halloween as a “small but worth-it treat.”

Montana Capital’s COO, Shir Amram, emphasized the importance of enjoying Halloween without breaking the bank. “Our survey shows that people still love the excitement of the season – they are just finding smarter ways to enjoy it,” Amram stated.

In terms of spending methods, 65% of participants reported using cash or debit cards, while 27% opted for credit. The survey also highlighted that 14% of respondents have borrowed money specifically to host or participate in Halloween festivities.

As Halloween draws near, residents of Connecticut are encouraged to check out these top costume shops while being mindful of their budgets. With a blend of creativity and financial savvy, Halloween remains a cherished tradition, even in challenging times.
