Urgent Alert: PC Prices Set to Surge Post-Black Friday Sales
UPDATE: Two major PC manufacturers are sounding the alarm on imminent price hikes for new computers, warning consumers that Black Friday may be their last chance to snag deals before costs surge. Maingear CEO Wallace Santos urges buyers to act now, stating that RAM prices are set to climb even higher, while CyberPowerPC confirms that prices for its gaming PCs will increase starting on December 7, 2025.
The warning comes as RAM prices have skyrocketed by a staggering 500% and SSD prices have doubled, significantly impacting the cost of new desktops and laptops. This surge in memory prices is creating unprecedented pressure on the market, making the upcoming Black Friday a critical moment for potential buyers.
According to Santos, “We’ve already seen DRAM prices skyrocket due to the shortages and are holding off those price changes for our customers as long as we can.” He advises consumers looking to upgrade their PCs to consider shopping now, as favorable prices may soon vanish.
CyberPowerPC echoes this sentiment, revealing that the projected price increase will be around $80 for a PC with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, and $160 for a gaming rig with 32GB and 2TB SSD. This significant hike has already been felt since early October, with analysts warning that these trends could continue into 2026 and potentially lead to a memory shortage.
With reports indicating a potential RAM drought extending into 2027, the urgency for consumers to act is palpable. Santos notes, “I anticipate that the prices will continue to rise and then we will eventually have to increase our lead times as stock and allocation becomes constrained.”
For those considering upgrades, the advice is clear: Black Friday offers a crucial opportunity to buy before prices hit new highs. This isn’t just about desktops; laptop buyers should also be on high alert for potential RAM-related price increases.
In summary, as the clock ticks down to December 7, consumers are encouraged to take advantage of current prices and discounts this Black Friday, or risk paying significantly more for new PCs in the near future. The market is shifting rapidly, and the time to act is now.
