URGENT UPDATE: Bodycam footage has just been released, revealing critical interactions between Farmington police and a couple accused of murdering their 11-year-old daughter, Jacqueline “Mimi” Torres. The video shows police responding to multiple noise complaints at the couple’s condo, where authorities now believe Jacqueline’s body was hidden in the basement.

The footage, released by the Farmington Police Department, captures police approaching the condo on December 29, 2024. This was the sole interaction with Karla Garcia, 29, and her boyfriend Jonatan Nanita, 30, prior to the discovery of Jacqueline’s remains on October 8, 2025, outside a boarded-up home in New Britain.

Officers had responded to four noise complaints at the Wellington Drive residence from September 2024 to February 2025. In the footage, police can be seen knocking and ringing the doorbell. After about 90 seconds, Garcia opens the door, claiming, “Everything’s good though,” despite the noise complaints.

When asked if anyone else was home, Garcia mentioned, “just the babies and my boyfriend,” indicating that Nanita was in the basement. The couple discussed their impending move to New Britain, suggesting they were leaving due to noise complaints. Notably, neither mentioned Jacqueline or her sister during this exchange, which lasted less than four minutes.

This release follows the unsealing of arrest warrants for Garcia, Nanita, and Garcia’s sister, Jackelyn Garcia, 28. All three face serious charges, including murder with special circumstances and conspiracy to commit murder. Investigators allege that Garcia and Nanita killed Jacqueline, while Jackelyn is accused of participating in the abuse leading up to the tragic death.

Authorities revealed that after Jacqueline’s body was found, Karla Garcia claimed Nanita placed her in the basement, and the odor became so overpowering they were forced to stay at hotels. The couple moved to New Britain in March, where neighbors reported a foul smell emanating from their residence.

In interviews, Nanita initially denied knowledge of what was in a storage bin but later confessed it contained Jacqueline’s remains. A woman who identified herself as Nanita’s new girlfriend reported that he had retrieved the bin from a cemetery, which smelled strongly. This led to neighbors contacting police, prompting the investigation.

When authorities opened the 40-gallon tote, they discovered Jacqueline’s body curled up in a fetal position, surrounded by bedding and a laundry basket. The condition of the remains indicated severe malnourishment, with the medical examiner noting that Jacqueline weighed only 27 pounds at the time of her death.

Both Karla and Jackelyn Garcia allegedly admitted to frequently zipping up Jacqueline and denying her food as punishment, a horrific practice that allegedly led to her demise. Karla Garcia confessed to not feeding her daughter at all during the two weeks before Jacqueline’s death.

As this shocking story continues to unfold, all three suspects remain in custody, facing serious charges in Torrington Superior Court. The community is left grappling with the implications of this tragedy, as the investigation reveals the extent of the abuse Jacqueline endured.
