Urgent Weather Update: Cooler Days Ahead, Major Warm-Up Next Week
UPDATE: San Diego residents are experiencing a cooler and breezier Tuesday as a low-pressure system moves in from the west. Morning fog is expected to linger, with the potential for marine-layer drizzle and patchy fog affecting visibility during the morning commute.
As of 2 p.m. today, occasional virga may occur along the coast, which means rain might evaporate before reaching the ground. Travelers should be prepared for lower visibility and a few sprinkles while heading out on Wednesday morning.
Temperatures are projected to stay in the low 70s for coastal and mountainous areas, while valleys may see temperatures in the mid 70s. Winds will pick up significantly this afternoon, gusting up to 22 MPH in coastal and valley regions, and reaching as high as 30 MPH in the mountains and deserts.
This low-pressure system is forecasted to move northeast, potentially bringing spotty mountain rain and snow showers to the central and southern Sierra. Fortunately, Thursday will usher in drier and warmer conditions, with a rising trend expected into the weekend due to a weak ridge of high pressure.
But the most significant change is on the horizon: a major warm-up is anticipated for Monday and Tuesday of next week, with models indicating afternoon highs could reach the mid to upper 70s along the coast and mid to upper 80s in the valleys.
As a reminder, in just two weeks, San Diego will observe the end of daylight saving time. Prepare to “fall back” an hour on November 2, when the sun will rise at 6:07 a.m. and set at 4:56 p.m.
Stay tuned for more updates as conditions evolve!
