In a recent interview, actor Josh Brolin shared insights about his former friendship with Donald Trump prior to Trump’s presidency. Speaking to The Independent, Brolin characterized Trump as a “different guy” from the public persona seen in the media. The actor expressed confidence that Trump will not pursue a third term, despite circulating rumors and occasional claims from Trump himself.

Brolin stated, “I’m not scared of Trump, because even though he says he’s staying forever, it’s just not going to happen. And if it does, then I’ll deal with that moment.” His familiarity with Trump stems from their interactions during the production of “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,” directed by Oliver Stone. Although Trump was originally slated for a cameo in the 2010 film, he was ultimately cut from the final version.

Reflecting on Trump’s earlier career, Brolin found his entrepreneurial ventures in the late 1970s intriguing. He noted Trump’s efforts to develop significant projects “in the middle of a cesspool city” during that period. However, Brolin’s assessment of Trump’s presidency is more critical, describing his exercise of power as “unmitigated.”

Despite his reservations, Brolin acknowledged Trump’s exceptional marketing skills. He remarked, “There is no greater genius than him in marketing – he takes the weakness of the general population and fills it.” Brolin suggested that many people view Trump as a “mascot,” emphasizing that the connection is more about the public’s need for validation than about Trump himself.

As discussions around Trump’s political future continue, Brolin’s insights provide a personal perspective on the complexities of the former president’s character and appeal. His comments reflect a blend of admiration for Trump’s marketing prowess while also expressing concern over the current political landscape.
