UPDATE: The annual Longmont Halloween Parade is underway, attracting a vibrant crowd of families and newcomers on this sunny fall morning, October 28, 2025. Main Street has transformed into a lively spectacle of costumes, with attendees donning outfits ranging from superheroes to beloved animated characters.

Local families flooded the streets, showcasing their creativity and enthusiasm. Among them, six-year-old Sloane Hurowitz dazzled the crowd as she embodied Rumi from the popular animated film “KPop Demon Hunters.” Sloane’s parents revealed that she chose Rumi as her costume after watching the film over a hundred times, memorizing every song. Her costume featured purple, braided wigs and artistic symbols inspired by the character.

“This is our first year participating, and I can’t believe how many people are here,” said Candice Hurowitz, Sloane’s mother, just before the parade kicked off. The excitement in the air was palpable as families prepared to march.

The Hernon family also joined the festivities for the first time, proudly representing characters from the Batman universe. Misty Hernon, dressed as the Riddler, shared, “We’ve lived here for 13 years, but this is the first time we’ve ever done this.” Her family took great pride in their handmade costumes, with Abigail Hernon, portraying Robin, stating, “We’ve been working on these since, like, March.”

The parade featured elaborate costumes, including characters from “The Wizard of Oz,” astronauts, and even a massive Bumblebee suit from “Transformers.” Local high school marching bands entertained the crowd, all while performing in costumes, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Another first-time attendee, Joslyn Strock from Firestone, expressed her delight at the event’s vibrant energy. Dressed as a yellow minion from “Despicable Me,” with her dog Rex dressed as a banana, she shared, “A friend of ours does it every year and said it was awesome. This year, I was like, ‘We have to do it.’”

As the parade continues, Longmont’s community spirit shines brightly, bringing families together to celebrate creativity and fun. The event is not just a parade but a testament to the joy and connection that Halloween brings to the local community.

Stay tuned for more updates as the parade unfolds and the celebration continues!
